Dr Joe Njenga

Joined 2 years ago from Nairobi Kenya. Last activity 5 weeks ago.

I am a Veterinarian who has passion for writing about Dog Health,Science Facts, Computer/Web Programming and Digital Photography.

I choose my pen name as AfriQnet inspired by thought of Africa being technologically developed continent in the future

My Writing Career

Early Life

During my school days, I enjoyed writing essays and poems as a way of killing boredom I was not an interested learner! I only enjoyed learning Mathematics because the subject engaging.

In my early schooling I spend substantial amount of time with my friend Mike reading newspaper columns, Africa Literature books and Poems.

We managed to write a novel that was titled ‘Kahonia’ (a friend who borrowed the manuscripts and never returned feigned he had misplaced the manuscripts.  Mike still quarrels me about the Manuscripts :)

My writing quest was inspired by Africa Literature Giants the likes of Ngugi Wathing’o , Wole Sonyinka, Chiuna Achebe and Professor Imbuga.

 University

I managed to score good grades and got a placement to Study Veterinary Medicine in Nairobi University.

During my university days I was an active learner since Surgery was engaging unlike the previous subjects in my elementary education.

I wrote a Popular Veterinary Surgery Question and Answer Booklet popularly nicknamed ‘FOST MANUAL

‘Fost’ was the nick name of our vet class. I bet my colleagues remember the ‘Fost Manual’.

I also managed to write 620 Poems, several articles in the Campus Magazine and Started writing leisurely as a ghost blogger.

My specific interest to writing about dogs was drawn in one seminar I attended about Earning a Living as a Writer.

I have seen then taken blogging and writing as a career.

After University: Writing for Ezine, Writing on Odesk & Elance Platforms

Since I was inspired to nurture my writing skills by the seminar I attended prior to my graduation; I started writing content for the web immediately I graduated from Nairobi University in summer of 2010.

I started off my online writing career on Ezine where I published 62 Articles before coming to HubPages.

I was at the same time writing articles as a contractor in online working platforms (Odesk and Elance)

Independent Contributor

I have since outgrown writing for outsourcing firms and currently write for Newspapers, Magazines, Blogs and here on HubPages.

I only work for specific assignments (blogs and Pet Websites) that have tenure of not less than 3 months of full time work or contract.

I am glad today since writing for different clients offered me a chance to discover my potential and made my writing skills better with each passing day.

Today I see some of my previously written content published in some authority sites. It was a great learning experience.

I have continually improved my writing skills every time I write here on HubPages. I am always happy to see my readership grow from day to day.

If you are not writing on HubPages I encourage you to Join Today! It’s a wonderful community that will mentor you to be a good writer and effective communicator.

My Passion

Besides writing I am fascinated by technology in particular web technologies. I am a self-taught Web Programmer (HTML, CSS, Php and Java) who creates beautiful websites and now learning to create Mobile Apps.

My Passion for digital photography continues to grow day to day. I am hopeful that one day I will create a beautiful website for people round the world to share photos.

My Life Philosophy

My philosophy in life is to make the world a better place than I found it; I am a firm believer that things can only get better!

I envision a time in my lifetime that my Country Kenya will be fully industrialized.

On HubPages

My business here is to research and write useful content that will help dog owners out there deal with day to day problem associated with keeping dogs.

It is my desire to share my Veterinary Knowledge with dog owners to help them take care of our Best Friends. I am too a proud owner of a Dog

Although I am a Vet some of my published work does not rely only on my Veterinary Knowledge but life experiences and general research on the Internet.

Your Feedback is Important!

I appreciate comments, compliments and I welcome criticism too, since they will make me a good writer and an effective communicator.
